Weekly wonder and the shortest day of the year

Another week, another weekly wonder post. The week has flown by for me, thanks to a course, several trips between Canberra and Sydney, a cold and plenty of work. Hopefully your week has been slightly less chaotic and slightly more relaxing! Did you know we just past the shortest day of the year? It’s only more and more sunshine from here.

Here are some articles to fill your Sunday with some wonder. (I got a little obsessed with the Economist this week. Too many good articles.)

  • Have you ever wondered…how successful people poop at work? Well, even if you haven’t, this article will shed some light on this now curiously enticing subject.
  • Are you a historical buff? Care about wages, inequality and technology? This might interest you.
  • There are better ways to do death. Particularly when it comes to crematoriums.
  • Where do the bugs come from? Viruses, animals and crossing the species divide.
  • Having worked in communities plagued by TB, anything that might be able to treat MR-TB or XR-TB excites me. Maybe it’ll excite you too.
  • What would YOU suggest as the most underrated medical invention to date? Here’s a list of thought-inspiring apparatuses.
  • If I could grow up to be like this guy…Vale a pioneer in medical informatics and patient data.

It’s not a TED talk this week. But if you’ve ever wondered what your neighbours are doing upstairs…you’ll know now.
