I was doing my bounce-back drive Canberra-Sydney (again!) and realised that I very rarely share with you all any world-news. I would, but politics seems to be largely depressing and there are too many natural disasters, wars and political upheavals going on. Here, you’ll find interesting excerpts about our world that are, hopefully, less upsetting. Enjoy finding out about the positives in our world this week.
Interesting articles this week:
- A long-form piece by a psychiatrist who spends her life studying creativity
- The key to grief may lie in rituals
- Advances in science beg new ethical questions. A new venture of Dr Venter makes an image of one’s likeness based on DNA
- There is a future where leather is grown in the lab
TED talk of the week:
This is a whole series of talks to uplift you when feel like someone’s just trodden all over your heart. This week, dedicated to all of you chewing your fingernails nervously awaiting jobs.
Book of the week:
I haven’t even finished reading this yet but have become thoroughly enamoured with The Matters of the Heart. A wonderfully interesting book, even if you aren’t keen on becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon or cardiologist.
Meme of the week:
Because it’s too true.
